Hi Guys for the first time. I do all remodeling, and have laid a few floors that turned out well and still look nice, but in no way call myself a flooring professional. I love the idea of people sharing their knowledge and do the same whenever asked. My question is... This is my first PREFINISHED floor install. I am using a Bostich 111. What is the best way to firmly install the last few planks aganst a wall? Also, in the past, I have nailed and glued the bull nose piece at the steps. What is best for prefinished. Thank You in advance. Doug

Same way you did it before. Attempt to face nail in darker grain. Use matching hole putty. You could glue if you prefer; some do it that way.

I have never glued before. What type pf glue, and should I trust it as much as nails? If I glue, should I nail also? Thanks again, Doug

Generally, you can use a construction adhesive. This is the easiest way to go when gluing the last few boards. I sometimes use Liquid Nails or PL400 in a caulking gun. Simply run a wiggly bead across the back of the board and install. You can use a few nails to anchor it till the glue dries or use wedges aqainst the wall to keep everything tight. Use straight, shorter lengths. I have found that often, longer, solid boards can be crooked, making the install against a wall more difficult. So use shorter, staight boards when gluing. If you want, you also can use a flooring adhesive that you trowel out. On solid wood, do not use any water based adhesive. Use Bostick's Best, Franklin Advantage, etc.
