Hello,
I just got my (Lisbon Cork- Mora ) and i am going to install it in my kitchen.
The planks are 12" wide and 4' long
My question is how is the best way to start?
All the videos and howto suggest that i find the longest straight run and start there.
So do start where the longest cabinet or do i start where one of the doors are

Image

Thanks

Take measurements off both ends of the outside wall,( for straightness), and chalk a line down the middle section, just out from the long cabinet, or just out from the 2 cabinets. Adjust your starting line according to layout,( width of plank cuts at walls, doors, cabinets, etc). Hopefully the cabinets aren't too far out of straightness...there's tricks for that..

I'd go off the big cabinet and back fill to the one doorway myself. snap a line first of course to see if it is straight as the long cabinet. .I always like to do things different than Howard. I can't imagine if we worked together how we would ever get anything done. :P

Your right....we'd lock horns, and have to work in different areas of the house  :P Yea, chalking off the wall, at the long cabinet is MAYBE an option. But I'd first want to see how it lays out with the rest of the kitchen, and the visual focal points in relation to the rest of the house  Like maybe it would look best with full planks at the 2 doorways, in which case I would dry lay full planks off those doorways, give myself a 1/2" or so to play on the full planks, mark my line and back feed from the 2 cabinets. Of coarse that line would take into consideration all the cabinets as well. Not to mention balancing the main walkway of the kitchen. SP go take the square bedroom..I'll handle this :P

The long cabinet is going to show any run off more than the shorter cabinets and two doorways because it is chopped up. But of course you would check that first and maybe fudge somewhere. I/m going to go take a nap in the back bedroom, go for it. 8-)

If it's laid out right, and pick your boards, the long cabinet is no problemo. Of coarse you don't want to use cabinets for straightness, or have narrow rips in doorways, or the cabinets on the other side... I'll wake you up when I'm outta here.. at least prep that bedroom, before you fall a sleep 8-)

Well it is just the cork from LL. Not even the 4' plank but the ole 11 5/8 stuff. Hides screw ups pretty well so go for it. :P

Couple years ago no one would sell LL cork floors. All they could get was some unfinished stuff and no one wanted unfinished floating cork planks. I can only imagine their amazing knowledge of cork. Speaking of cork....... I hear Home Depot stopped selling up in certain arid areas because they have had to many issues. They say you cannot install it in arid areas. Ha ha
