I have a fireplace surround consisting of 1'x1' tiles. I will have to run my floor up to and around the tile, so one board on either side will run along the face of the board and others will be butted up to the tile. Does that make sense? I'm assuming I will have to leave an expansion gap for at least the boards running lengthwise. Are there any suggestions on how to best hide this gap?

Oh, I'm stapling down 3/8" x 3" mesquite. Thanks for any input.

Im going to use a square nose reducer that that is designed for surrounding the fireplace, but a more proffesional way would be to undercut the cement with a diamond blade if its higher then your wood floor wich gives a clean look + allows for exspansion.
does your flooring manufacturer offer matching molding?

I think theres a thread or a link with pictures and ideas for working around a fireplace on here somewhere!

maybe some of the pros will give you more options!
