Hello Hardwood Flooring Talk!
First time poster.

I am considering the sustainable farm raised teak from Central America for flooring in a living/kitchen area.

There are some comments here on the forum from several years ago. With so much changing in finish technology and coatings over the last few years, does anyone have a recommendation on the best sealer and finishing coats for Tectona Grandis as it is called?

I've read on the forum here to stay away from the oil based sealers as they dry slowly and can gum up on this oily wood species.

Thanks for your recommendations and experience.

The best finish for teak would be Glitsa sealer and GoldSeal. This gives a clear solvent look which brings out the color and grain without becoming yellow. It is a conversion varnish and has alcohols as the solvent so it dries quickly. Don't spread too thinly each coat. Use a carbon respirator cause it smells strong as it is drying. Don't let the area have any drafts which dries too fast.
