I install a lot of prefinished engineered hardwood floors in new homes. I have been using an electric planer on subfloor joints. This works fine but is dusty and time consuming. I was wondering what recommendations anyone has on a standup buffer/sander with a vac attachment to use on the subfloor pre install. Thanks.

The electric hand planer works best for small areas. It throws chips instead of dust so it works a lot faster. The edger with 16 grit is what I use so nails don't wreck the blade if I'm not careful. You can sand into a nail and the sandpaper still works, just not as good. A bigger disc like a buffer would need to have a special head to be able to grind floor bumps better than an edger.
