Is changing from baseboard registers to flush mount registers a good idea?

There is 1/2" gap from duct to the wall. Duct size is around 2" x 8". Dry wall is 1/2" under cut as well.

Thinking about ordering a flush mount vent than is slightly twice the desired width and cutting it in half. One half gets installed on the N side of the house and other half on the S side. The base board modeling just would lay flat over some of the vent.

Also if this idea is not too crazy would you want to use one of these walls as the starter row or avoid it like the plague?

Check out this website. They should be able to create a wall mounted vent for your needs. I use these guys all the time. Very nice vents.

So does this mean my idea is crazy? I just do not like baseboard vents and rather have flush mount if possible and feasible.

As for classicvents, I contacted them by email a few months with an order for three custom vents. The good news is that can make custom 5/8" teak flush mounts. The bad news is that they did not want to take my order but rather send me to a local reseller. Well the local reseller was 30 miles away and did not want to do business via email or phone for such a small order.

I was about to try classic vents again (thus the purpose of the thread to know what to order), do you have a contact that you use?

As for trim, we are still up in air over natural wood or white. Heck might steal some ikea kick boards from the kitchen if looks nice. So if baseboards are the choice, then I can order them later. Flush mounts I need first.

I am not to high on cutting a flush mount vent in two. I think it would all fall apart. The wall registers in this area are metal and are about 10 in. tall.

I have always thought that they would look great out of wood using the cold air return grate that classic air makes.

I get mine though my hardwood distributor. In the end they are not cheap but they give any job that professional custom look.

For me the cost is passed on to the consumer with my mark up as well. :P
