Hi everyone,

Im installing a laminate flooring for the first time and Im a little confused about what to do at the base of the stairs. In the picture below there are two stairing posts and molding that that go all the way to the base floor (concrete) Do I undercut the posts and molding or would that compromise the integrity of the banister? Thanks!

it would compromise only if the posts are fastend to the concrete which I don't believe is the case..

you can under cut the ledge molding no problem.

the post you can just undercut partially..don't cut it all the way through..just deep enough to chisel ot the cut and fit the floor under.

I am sure they fastened the posts to the front to the front ledge framing..
