I have some barnboard to install and I don't know if there is a pattern or layout I should know about. I have 3", 5", and 7" widths...I have 1000 sq ft to do, but only have 200 sq ft of the 7" widths. Is there a certain layout or plan I can go by to know how much I need of the 3" and 5" widths, and where to begin laying it out so it looks somewhat random, but the 7" planks are evenly dispursed....Thanks for any and all help!!!! This is all very new to me!!!!

To figure out the amount of wood you will need:

1. determine the direction you will lay your floor.

2. measure the floor to figure how many 15" strips it will take to cover the floor in this direction (3" + 5" + 7"). Any portion of the 15" band counts as a whole since it does not make sense to try and determine which of the 3 types of boards will be used out of the band.

3. with the length known of each size. you can now convert to sf.

There might be an easier way to explain this but the computation is really not too terrible. If this doesn't make sense I again.
