What are the problems when the wood has a finish on the back. Is there a special glue to use? Or is it a bad product?

They are doing that to prevent moisture problems as it comes across the sea.

Call the bamboo mill and ask, or call an adhesive manufacture like Bostik's or Franklin, to see what they suggest and have them fax you what they recommend.
