Hi I am planing on installing 800sf. of 5/8 prefinished soild bamboo flooring.I am told that i must use 18 ga, fastners, The only power nailer I can find that handles 18 gauge is the power nail model p50 which so far the best price that i can find is $479.00. I am also told that 16 gauge nails will split the tung. Can anyone give me a little direction on what to do.

Why not get the flex model? And when your done you can sell it to me....at a discount of course. Been wanting that one for awhile now.

We have that problem down here where it is so dry, you either dry it down to the zone or risk gaps. The the manufacture don't want you drying it down they say install right outa the box. So if you dry alot of these floors correctly they split very easily.

Thanks If I have to buy a new gun I will more than likely sell it when the floor is complete. The problem is now I am having a difficult time finding a powernail dealer in the Boston Mass. area. I looked up the dealers on the powernailers web site and two dealers do not stock the gun and do not seem to want to order it. Another one only sells to distributors and one no longer deals with powernailer. Do I really need an 18 gauge gun? Will the new floor runners work? Thanks for the info.
