Hello All.. I'm a DIY'er here in pittsburgh trying to put down a new bamboo floor I bought, but want to pick some brains on the best way to accomplish my task with limited obstacles. First off I have a bamboo that is horizontal 5/8 inch thick and three ft long. I am placing this over a subfloor that is wood with some luaun for a level surface. Is the air stapler the best route for this type of material or should I just stick to the manual floor nailer? and what type of staples are best for the 5/8 in think bamboo

thanks all
Gary

If you are installing it over joist & plywood a pneumatic stapler with 1 ½” staples should suffice. When installing 5/8 over plywood on concrete slab I use a smaller stapler called a floor runner this holds about as well as cleats. The traditional 1 1/2 “staples are too long for ¾ plywood and the 5/8 bamboo if you are over concrete. Over joist though staples should not present a problem.

Some bamboos state for glue down only. Make sure your flooring should be fastened or glued.
