Several ?'s.
-Current floor system is, 4 x 6 floor beams, 48 inches OC. On top of this are diagonal, tongue and grooved 2 x 6 planks, then 15 lb. felt paper, then 1/2 inch plywood.
Is this sufficent for bamboo?
Do I need additional felt paper on top of the ply, before the bamboo? (dry central California valley)
I have read comments about using floor staples, 2 inches, on bamboo, I am not sure if local stores rent this type of equip? Can I use traditional floor cleats?
What direction can I place the flooring? in relation to the 2 x 6 sub floor?

Any help comments are welcomed,
Thanks,

Art

With that subfloor system, you do not have traditional joists. So you can run the flooring any direction you wish. You want to be sure the 1/2" plywood is well attached and secure. An additional layer of Aquabar B over the plywood is called for if nailing the flooring (bamboo) down. You can use a 3/4" nailer (cleats or staples) with 5/8" bamboo IF you shim up the base plate with a piece of thin cardboard or similar. You must test to see that the fasteners are seating properly in the "nailing pocket". 1&1/2" fasteners are just fine for 5/8" thick flooring. If the bamboo is 1/2", then use a Spot nails stapler or similar that shoot a 1&1/4" staple.
