What experience does anyone have with bamboo flooring???? Durrable or not....dent, scratch, wear poorly...etc. Considering for upstairs area of home...have 2 kids (8 & 4)... Anyone with bamboo please let me know what what you have experienced and if I will have to worry about what is happening upstairs constantly! I want a floor that will be durrable and not break the bank. Bamboo has a price point that I can afford for 1200 sqft but how does it wear???? Please advise! Thanks!

Bamboo has a spotty reputation as it is made in China. Some of the best have similar durabilty to oak. If you are getting prefinished, buy quality. IMO, due to it's smooth texture, it does show dents and wear more so than heavily textured woods (oak, ash, hickory) but all floors will dent and scratch. If you like it, buy it for it's appearance. Solid oak is the same cost or only slightly more.

The packageing is surperb, at least the stuff I used( sorry don't remember name), Gary is right about showing wear more, Nicely milled stuff will go together just by blowing on it. I personally wouldn't put that much bamboo down, If it was just a hall that you could put a runner down, fine but it sounds like wall to wall your entire upstairs, Just my 2 cents
