Many of you probably didn't know I went fishin' for a week and a half. Not really, but I did discover nature again. It's been years since I spent some time in the mountains. I ventured into the Blue Ridge Mountains of Northern Georgia and stayed at the cabin shown below, on the edge of a peaceful sounding river. Folks, I've been in Florida too long!

They told me there are bears..oh no, but we didn't see any. Tracks, yes. Talk about seclusion! It's just what I needed. I don't see how long I can last in Florida when I see country like this.

If anyone is interested in No. Ga real estate like I am, catch up with Jim Stover in Ellijay. His website link is below. Great guy that doesn't push price or his listings, but what you want. I spent three days with Jim looking for a getaway cabin or property and found what I was looking for, although it took quite awhile. Unfortunately people don't list property descriptions very well, so we had to do some "exploring" on near cliffs or unbuildable land.

North Georgia Real Estate- Ellijay, Blue Ridge GA

That is Great Land. I used to spend quite a bit of time in the Blue Ridges myself. We would go a bit further north to Nantahala NC area.

I need to get back up that way. I too have been in FL TOO LONG!

It's a great place to get away! Laid back and peaceful. I've been looking into it for 3-4 months now after my mother mentioned it. She's spooked by the hurricanes and how over crowded our part of Florida has become. Gone are the 2,000 per acre prices of only 15 years ago in the Ga mountains, but the value today blows away the sickening Fla real estate prices.

When was the last time you came across a roadside sign and saw this?

I really like Georgia. Spent 2 months there a few years back. But my state has some very awesome places as well, along with awesome prices unless you go to the far north of the state. Looks like you have found a peaceful getaway. :)

It’s sad but Florida used to be like that. I am a native and while I love my property value now. I can’t say that I really like the changes. The Southern Agricultural roots of Florida are almost all but erased. Its funny I got into floors as part of restoring old Florida plantations, courthouses and school houses. To preserve what is left of those roots. Ken the place is beautiful, are you going to put a “leave the money in the box sign on your homepage”.

Elijay is where the best oak flooring is made btw. I may be a little impartial but they do make a real nice unfinished product down there.

I'm in the foothills, about half way between Atlanta and the mountains. It is a nice area, and I'm glad to have grown up here.

Kevin:

I heard they had a mill up there..somebody mentioned it in my travels.

Dave:

Sure is nice. Reminds me of the rural area of Bucks County Pa where I grew up.

That would get some attention, wouldn't it?

Here's the new company getaway. I have considered offering weeklong stays as a part of a monthly raffle for buying customers. The creek is 80 feet from the porch.
