On a factory PREFINISHED floor, it would be safer to butt the paper together so it will not have a slight ridge as you would if you overlapped it. Sand in place flors can afford to do this as they will be sanded flat. For factory finished floors, I prefer to use a thinner paper, like Aquabar, and overlap that.

thaks gary

it took you long enough to answer, i've been waiting 73 seconds already!!

:)

just got my moisture meter, so i had the wood acclimating in the living room (it's going in a bedroom that has an attic door that makes the room a little colder than the rest of the house)

did some tests, the subfloor is 10% and the maple is 6% or maybe lower (meter doesn't go any lower) so i moved the wood into the room, guess i have to acclimate until they are within 2% right?

That's best but I've found sometimes the flooring is too low for the region it's to be installed in. Your subfloors probably aren't going much lower. Hopefully, the maple will move up a few points to 8% average. Try racking out the wood or "stickering" it to help it acclimate better. What is the RH now?

the house has been a steady 39-40% for a few months now, but maybe this room is a bit different due to that attic door (it's on the wall)

i layed the wood open (not in boxes) with 2 boards running one way and arow of boards on top perpindicular to those 2 boards then anotrher 2 boards with another layer on top and so on (not sure if this is stickling)

i already sorted the boards for the straightest ones to start the floor with, that is the reason they are no longer in boxes

I can pretty much guarentee that come mid summer, your RH is going to be in the 60's, 70"s or even the 80's if you're in upstate New York and have no air conditioning (hope you do). The humidity on the eastern seaboard can be escruciating. My recommendation is to get your RH to a more mid level) 45 to 50%) by adding a humidifier. That way, the maple flooring will pick up a little MC and come summer, keep the AC on and the RH down in that 50% range.
