The Brutus is close enough for what your mixing. But the rings on the ardex go the other direction sort of ball shaped. I believe it is designed that way to reduce air entrapment.

There are at least two different types of mixing paddles for Ardex. They suggest the T-1 for their slc and the T-2 for their feather finish. The T-1 is ball-shaped. Any chance you might have a picture of the T-2 one?
