12 years ago my hardwood floors were treated with moisture cure polyurethane (I am told it has been taken off the market). I want to spruce up the floors and apply a fresh coat of polyurethane. I have been told because moisture cure is so hard, even after screening, no polyurethane will bond successfully on top of moisture cure. Is there a process and product that would work. Thank you. Carol

If my memory serves me correctly, you can re coat moisture cure urethane with water or solvent based products.
BUT re coating acid cure . . . must be with acid cure. Want to be Sure ?
Test a small area. Apply urethane of your choice to One board, observe.

Moisture cure is still available but is not the product it once was due VOC compliance.

you must use Moisture cure over itself only..
everyone I know who has tried to use sealers, or non compatible finishes has had failures.

My information comes only from old timer experiences who told me never use it over anything and never put anything on it.

I don't know what state you are in but the product is still available in NY.
If you can get MacGregor that would be the brand to get.

We just became a distributor for Rustoleum Nano Shield Products. Rustoleum put on a clinic to start things off. They make a product call Nano Shield Prefin Cleaner which is buffed on with a maroon buffing pad then after drying applied two coats of Nano Shield Advance Floor Finish with excellent results. We applied this over Mohawk Oakland with scotchgard finish which is extremely difficult to recoat and a day later did an adhesion test which resulted in no finish coming off at all.
We are quite excited about it as there are a ton of floors that have had Mop & Glo Orange and other acrylic finishes applied extensively before the build up occurred that is extremely difficult to remove especially with sanding. For more info google search http://www.rustoleum.com/product-catalo ... no-shield/
