I just put in a hardwood floor and stained it with glitsa sable black. when i went to finish it with minwax floor satin polyurethane i used a lambwool applicator and didnt go with the grain, it looked terrible , then my 2nd coat i used a roller with a 1/4 inch nap and it made it a lot better but i still have streaks and noticeable differences in thickness, my question is , will another 2 coats make it even or should i sand it down and start over? here are some pics of the streaks.

Is there anything i can do short of sanding it down?

Adding more coats wont do anything to the cross direction lines from your first coat. You need to buff out the actual first coat . But chances are that you will burn through . You can give it a shot but you likely have to re sand.

did you abrade your first coat before apply the second?

and why did you do this?I assume to applied the stain with grain.what possessed you to approach this differently?

and how did you get Glitza sable black( professional product only) and then go to Minwax poly( garbage)
