I liked them initially. They screened the callers pretty good. Then they stopped and I got $hit calls and prospective clients not answering their phone, still had to pay SM no matter what.

Plus they lead you in with low rates, then bump them up so after a few weeks you suddenly paying 50 to 70 bucks per lead.

I called my rep at SM and told her I was just going to keep my leads turned off and use their name as a way to gain clients on my website....SM approved and background check etc etc unless she took off the blatently faux leads. She promptly canceled my account. LOL

Then just a couple months ago they started calling be back practically begging me to come return. I said stuff it!

Around here the consumers are looking at one thing only, that being the price. So if you are willing to do the work for half price you will get the work. I would say 20% are actual leads the rest are tire kickers.

Jeff,

thats everywhere..price rules all.

its hard to say how many leads are bogus, but i would say about half generally are unreachable or not serious..
sometimes there are more..and sometimes i hit on all the leads i get. at least get the chance to bid.

its the internet and its not flawless and as i said, i get upset with the service at times too, but i can say if it weren't for serv ice magic, i would be on the streets in these times..nothing else seems to work or is just to
damn expensive for the volumes or returns they produce.

my best year in good times with service magic, i did well over 180,000 in sales with them..with the same investment monthly.
the rest was yellow pages and my GCs and builders...(where are they now?)

It is a tricky deal you spend $1300 monthly and get one job a year make 12K , yeas several years ago you might have sold for 180 000 today is a different story.

I too want to know where are all the builders?

Service Magic!??! Haha. They are horrible, I used the few years ago. Called the customers immedietly, rarely got call backs, got a lot of customers just "shopping" for information and never wanted a bid. Also, customers I actually got bids from, they were getting atleast 4 contractors sent out per bid when I was told only 2-3. So I canceled them. I'm recently trying them again with my business partner, and...getting the exact same thing. We've spent 900 bucks on leads so far and have gotten 2 jobs. Subtracting what we made from those 2 jobs (not big) is only $500 bucks. I would say don't use them. We are canceling them soon. But, if your not busy and need the leads and hopefully work, guess one or 2 bids every few weeks can't hurt.
