Hi, I have another one....I guess all silly questions from a first-timer. I have to cut my vinyl floor that is currently in the kitchen area so that its edge is straight. The family room (where I am putting hardwood) has carpet and the vinyl edge from the kitchen is not straight.
What tool do I use to cut the vinyl? The vinyl had underlayment on top of the subfloor. May be a circular saw? But the circular would not go upto the wall. Would I need something like a reciprocating saw? or a jig saw? why one is good to use and/or buy? Any specific suggestions?

Thanks...

A metal yard stick and a utility knife with a new blade.

Cut along the yard stick as a straight guide. Hold it down with your opposite hand and your knee. Cut as far as you feel safe and reposition your body parts.

No need to make a dust cloud for that task. Grab your framing square and a utility knife. Make some good, deepcuts with your utiliy knife and stick a sharp chisel in your mark. Smack with a hammer, shift chisel, repeat.
