I live in LA, CA and am considering putting Bellawood Koa - (It looks like tigerwood) in my home. I am planning to either purchase the wood and hire a contractor or I was planning to go with an all in one shop in LA (There are tons of them). What do some of you think in regards to these two alternatives. The wood is very reasonable ad Lum Liq and they provide names of installers. Has anyone had dealings with them. All advice welcomed,

I don't know how much different each store location runs it's operation or how much training the managers have, but the local LL here is a joke. Tell them what they want to hear, and push it out the door.

Also the installers on "the list" at the locall LL here, are known to be the biggest hacks in the local area. They prey on unsuspecting clients, don't own moisture meters, or know what floor prep is. I have inspected many, many from their installer list. And I quote..."there's no specifications for throwning wood on the floor. Who are you again?"

California, may be different, as you must be licensed and you could lose that license, if you install things out of specifications.

I dont know much about the whole LL deal but it is no different here I am sure. Besides there are pleanty of hacks with licenses. I call them Woody the Wood Butchers . An axe is there favorite tool for everything. You also have alot of guys who work without a license. Where I live a few guys are making a good living doing resands there not licensed and noone ever asks everyone assumes or does not care I guess. Point is that a license only means that you can pass a written exam . It really says nothing about what you know. In fact my license permits me to contract to do carpet , lino any floor covering I beleive except maybe tile but if you were to hire me to do any of the above your hiring an amature. I am sure I could wing it but the customer wouldnt have a clue I was doing so for I have a floorcovering license. So I would go ahead and guess that LL here is LL there and if it fell off the delivery truck or the box car tiped over they will be there to pick it up and sell it to some poor unknowing soul who in the beggining thinks there getting a great deal. In the end I could have done it right for you for less. Stay away from LL I hear bad things everywhere bout them
