Another question... I had to remove the molding around my wall so that I could take up the carpet... now I have this:

So my question is this... do I put the baseboard molding on first and then install my wood up to the baseboard? Or do I install the wood under the drywall? Thanks

Leave the baseboard OFF. Install the floor with the required expansion gap...(read the directions on that). Once installed, put the baseboard back on and it should cover the expansion gap. You won't install the Naturally Simple (thin engineered) wood under the drywall. Sometimes people will undercut the drywall when installing 3/4" wood.

There is touch up putty at lowes to clean up your baseboards.

Did you buy your spacers? If you did, you wouldn't be asking about installing under the drywall. Don't attempt this install without spacers.

Good Luck!!!

First of all, thank goodness for this forum! Second, I hope I am not annoying anyone with my newbie questions because it looks like I am probably going to have many more to come..... KRV, I didnt buy my spacers , I figured I could just make my own, which might be my problem. My instructions say to use 1/2" spacers from the wall, but this is the problem that I come up with:

when any sort of pressure is put on the "home-made" spacers the ends start to slide into the gap under the drywall and they bend out at a 45 degree angle (which you can see). This ends up giving no real support and I am sure that the space is then less than 1/2". I also made smaller spacers that would fit under the wall:

but then there is no way that I will be able to remove then after the floor is in... so would spacers from Lowes fix this problem? This is why I was wondering if I should just put the baseboard molding down first... any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Better to ask the questions now than pay for them later. Go buy the spacers.... and follow the directions precisely as they state in the instructions. the spacers made for Bruce will solve your problem.

Don't forget the tapping block. Yes, buy that too.

I am thinking about using this same floor (Naturally Simple). How
did it come out and do you have any comments about the product?

Thanks

Floorguy, where do you get those wall anchors? Who makes them?
That is something I could use as it looks like it would make starting the floor a lot easier.
