I recently received what I think is a good quote for 3'' American Walnut hand-scraped flooring ($4.79/sf). The hardwood is made by a company called Somerset Hardwood Flooring, it is from their Country Collection. I liked that the wood's color is natural and isn't just stained on the top. I feel that this is a good thing when it comes time to sand it in the future.

But the thing that stands out to me is how soft the wood is. It has a Janka rating of 1010, which seems low to me.

I am very new to the world of hardwood flooring and know nothing. So, if someone can help me with my dilemma of worrying about the low Janka Scale rating, I would appreciate it. Is the Janka Scale rating overrated? Should I not worry about the low rating?

Thank You in advance!

It is softer than most. But just take your shoes off and trim the dogs nails if you love it.
