Hi gang,

I have a customer who is considering N. American Walnut for floors Since this is an expensive and soft wood, I'm looking for an alternative that would look similar when finished in a clear finish. To make matter worse, this floor needs to be engineered because it is going over a radiant floor. I would prefer a floating floor as I believe this would perform best but an unfinished engineered would probably work also. Suggestions? Thanks, your friendly neighborhood floorman, Gary

If they want natural Walnut, why not steer them towards a handscraped/distressed engineered plank? That's what I'm doing so I can enjoy the beauty of Walnut and the relative softness is a "feature" as it only adds to the character over time.
