Hi all,

First, I would like to thank all of the contributers to this forum, you have answered so many of my questions. A little about the job we are doing. We are getting ready to install about 1700 sq ft of BR-111 3"x3/4" solid Brazilian Cherry throughout our 10 year old house. We will be removing carpet which is on 23/24" OSB T&G subfloor on 16" OC joists. The flooring will be installed 90 degress to the joists. This is on the 2nd and 3rd floors with heated living space below both. So moisture should not be an issue at all. Subfloor will be properly prepped and sanded where needed. We will be using cleats.

I hate the idea of putting 15# roofing paper in the rooms. I dont like the odor or the tarry black rub-off. I would prefer something like Aquabar B. On Fortifiber's website I noticed a product called HWD-15 which appears to be designed specifically for under hardwood flooring. I've searched the internet and have found almost no information about this product. Can anyone tell me about it? Any experience using it? I like the idea of a clean product for under the wood. And its advertised to reduce noise and squeaks, which I also like. Or, any alternatives that would be better?

Thanks in advance, Tim

I have used it many times, as it is handled by my local distributor. It's a very good product, IMO, and as Perry said, perfect for your situation.

What does this go for price-wise in your neck of the woods? Is it more or less than regular #15 tar paper?

About the same, as I recall.
