We're putting down 3/8x3" solid red oak over terrazo. We already put down a 24x2' section with the wrong glue, so I don't want to make any other mistakes. When the installer was laying that section afte several boards were put down he then used blue tape to secure the boards together which of course is removed after setting.

My question is should the installer be leaving space between the boards to allow for expansion/contraction and how much between the walls?

Not between the boards, and make a gapped floor.

Around the perimeter or any fixed objects, the usual rule is an expansion gap equal to the thickness of the flooring.

Be very careful with solid wood over terrazo. It has to be surface prepped, and especially checked and TESTED for moisture vapor emissions, and just how close the substrates suface temp, is to the dew point temperature.

We are going to use Stauf 960 which we've been told is a sealer and adhesive in one. The stats also say it is suitable for terrazzo.

Is anyone familiar with Stauf 960?

My installer would prefer not use to urethane because he says it can damage the finish if it isn't removed ASAP and it's difficult to work with.

Stauf 960 is a polymer. It can be used with solid hardwood over terrazzo. I just wanted to know if anyone has used it and their likes/dislikes. If it gets on the boards and isn't removed ASAP will it damage the finish?
