After the 3rd coat of Lenmar oil mod poly (satin) there are dull (lap?/applicator?) streaks / marks in our floor. The flooring contractor believes these are in the 2nd coat. He is suggesting pouring off the top part of the mixture to get more of the dulling agents so that the finish will be more matte and (he says) hopefully these marks will be less noticeable. Does this sound like the right fix?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated. These old (90+ years) floors have been sanded back to wood twice in 3 months. First he thought he had a bad batch of finish, later he says it was b/c of something that had previously been used on the floor...maybe wax. I am hoping there is a gentle (for the floors) fix for these streaks. Thanks!
