Hi Guys ,
I have an opportunity to purchase some teak solid hardwood flooring with tongue and groove and end matched.

My only problem is the installation of the product. I have heard conflicting advice and i hope someone can either rubbish the advice or agree with it.

I have a solid concrete floor and want to lay the hardwood flooring on top of the concrete with a waterproof barrier between the concrete and wood. I was thinking of using some plastic sheeting.
I want to glue the tongue and groove together to create a floating floor to allow for expansion.

I have been told that it will not work.

People have told me the only way to lay wood flooring is to either nail it down onto wooden struts or lay the flooring on a sticky plastic sheeting called elastilon , which apparently moves with the expansion of the timber.

Can someone please give me some advice?

Thanks

Gavin

If the floor has been milled for nail down purposes, the tongue and groove may not (probably not) be suitable for a glued together floating system. Also, it is unlikely that you would be able to pull the boards tightly together. (Although there is someone on this forum that has a clamping system that may work for this application.)
All in all, I think you have the wrong product for your application directly over concrete.
A plywood base or screeds are the way to go to give you a nailing surface for your floor.
