Hi Everyone,
I will be installing 1800 s/f of BR111 Triangulo Amendoim (5" wide 1/2" thick) in a new home. It will be installed over 3/4" Advantech subfloor with 2x10 floor joists on 16" centers. There is a crawl space below that is insulated, has a continuous vapor barrier, and a dehumidifier. I will put down a 6 mil vapor barrier and plan on using 18 ga 1 3/8" staples in a Spotnails gun. This flooring will be used everywhere on the 1st floor except the bathrooms (including the kitchen - wife wants it).

Other than not putting it in the kitchen - what do I need to do to make this install successful.

Did I forget anything?

Thanks,
Rich

I do not think they make a 1/2 inch thick Triangoulo. Is it the 5/16 razor thin veneered stuff or the 3/8th with a thicker wear layer?

The BR111 engineeered is 5/16".
The Triangulo engineered is 1/2" - I have a sample - remember this is the 5" wide flooring, not the 3 1/2".

I would not cover the Advantec with a 6 mil vapor barrier. In my mind that might create a moisture sandwich because of the insulation between the joist. Is the insulation faced or unfaced?

Thanks for the reply Jerry.

Currently there is nothing there as the house is still under construction. I believe the insulation will be unfaced. My only concern is that if I don't follow the BR111 instructions the warranty will be void. I would much rather put down 15# roofing paper.

Another note - this house is in Hertford, NC.

I believe BR111 is the only manufacturer specifying that. I don't understand the logic behind it but a manufactures written instructions over rules whatever I may think. :)

Unfaced would probably be the way to go here. I would run it by your insulation subcontractor and get their input.
