Hi all,
I have 5/16" thick oak hardwood that I would like to lay over concrete in a condo. To follow condo regulations I have to use a sound dampening barrier.
My plan is to glue down 1/8" cork underlay and then glue down the hardwood on top of it. I've been reading the resources on this website (and all over the web) trying to figure out what are the adhesives I need to use to complete this install.
Is this a good way to do it? All advice is appreciated and thank you in advance.

1/8 inch cork is too thin to glue down because of how porous it is. Glue will ooze through when you begin walking on it, which is unavoidable. 1/4 inch on the other hand, no problem. I've been in that sticky situation once and that was enough, or it could have been I was using a too big of a trowel notch size.

Thank you, I will use 1/4" cork.
What type of glue should I use for the cork to concrete can I use the same one to glue the hardwood to the cork?

Many thanks

I would pay attention to what the hardwood (and the adhesive) manufacturer says. Years ago it was a no brainer. Install the cork with a premium latex glue and a hardwood glue with the hardwood. Nowadays hardwood adhesives are much stronger that can weaken or loosen a glued cork.
