Here is what one web site recommends. As far as the time we should wait before install over radient heating.

Opinions on the amount of time required vary widely. Some say the heating system should be turned on at least 72 hours before installation, with a preferred time of five to six days. That assumes that the slab has been in place for at least 60 days. If the slab is relatively new, the recommendation is to have the heating system turned on for 30 to 60 days before installing wood floors. As always, follow the recommendations of your wood flooring manufacturer.

Two important questions.
1. Would you acclimate the wood for 5 days with the heater on or off?

2. Would you be installing the floor with the heater on or off?

I am in california and will be installing this floor in summer so I guess heater off.
I can't imagine to keep the heater on for 30 days in order to dry the ply. Drywall contractor wouldn't like it :-)

Thanks.
Rafal

Don't worry about what one website says. Have the manufacturer of your wood, fax you the requirements for installation over radient heated floors.

You can't even start the acclimation process with the wet trades still working in the home. The wood sitting in the room while tape and floating and latex painting and ceramic tile work, will gain moisture from the wet materials dehydrating into the interior of the home. All wet trades must be complete for at least a week and the HVAC system running to pull the moisture from the air, before you can bring the wood in for acclimation to start.

Acclimation is not a time thing. It could be ready to go as soon as it is off the truck, or it could be 2 months before the moisture content of the wood reaches equillibrium with your interior ambient conditions.

Radient heated floors make things real tricky. Follow the manufacturers requirements, documenting them the whole way through the installation.
