All,

Thanks for the input, it's been very helpful and I feel somewhat educated now. The regional manager stopped by this morning to do a moisture assessment. We are exactly where we should be (with the proper meter) and ready to install. I'm slightly annoyed that the installation crews don't carry the proper equipment to measure moisture and begin work, but for now I'm just happy we can proceed.

Thanks for the help!

Definitely something wrong with these readings BUT Lignomat Versa Tec has readings for all bamboo. They state in their instructions that bamboo can only be read in scan mode, or more technically it functions as a capacitance-type meter i.e. no pins. Have found this meter to be extremely accurate and it also reads in pin mode with insulated pins and can do rh testing in concrete.

Of more interest what do the manufacturers instructions state about acclimation. They differ widely it seems. Wrapped in plastic however is usually an indication that they do not want it exposed for acclimation. Again what do the instructions say about that and what levels of moisture content are acceptable. Usually bamboo allows high rh and mc allowances due to the high levels of humidity that bamboo is grown in. Most mfg requirements for bamboo I see state rh 35% to 55% which equates to mc readings of 7% to 10.2%.
