First flooring project... But not the first woodworking project.

Decided to lay unfinished Brazilian Cherry over 24'x8' floor, joists 1' apart, sound 11/16 plywood subfloor. Really don't like nails or cleats (all my other woodworking projects use torx screws), reason being - don't want any squeaks, and I'm planning to stay in this house for *really* long time.

I know that gluing 3/4 is frowned upon - to the best of my understanding, because they're not necessarily straight, but I wonder if I can remedy that with clamping crooked (within reason) planks with hold down clamps temporarily bolted to joists? If yes, what would be the force required to hold them down (so I get correct clamps)?

On the other side, am I being too scared of nailed floor being squeaky?

One more fact that might tip the balance: this is the second floor next to western exposure windows in Phoenix, AZ.

put a bead of glue every 12-16 inches and nail away..

use either urethane adhesive or PL premium

problem solved.
