I am considering purchasing br 111 brazilian walnut, but I am worried about the quality and color. I like the color of the samples that I have seen (medium brown with some green undertones) , but I have been told numerous times that it is an extremely dark species that will darken over time. I like the variations in the color, but I have also been warned that the color variation will mute and become more uniform over time.

Has anyone had any experience with br-111 brazilian walnut? Were you happy with it?

Does anyone have any experience with Br 111 brazilian walnut?

Were the store samples a good representation of your end product?

Does the color darken significantly over time?

Does the color become mute and uniform over time? (I hope not)

Overall were you satisfied with br 111 and brazilian walnut?

I just feel completely overwhelmed, so any help/advice will be greatly appreciated. (Due to an air conditioner malfunction, we are in the process of changing 1200 square feet of our subfloor, and I need to make a decision on the replacement flooring soon)

Thanks in advance

I do have experience and brazilian walnut is mostly unaffected by light when compared to more photo sensitive species such as brazilian cherry. That does not mean it doesn't change. There is a gradual change over the first year and slower changes thereafter. The variations remain very much intact. Wood samples are never a good representation of the entire floor. Think about it you are looking at 2 square feet that is god knows how old. Brazilian walnut is beautiful but tough to install.
